Assignment 5

This photo was unique because of what everyone was wearing. Since we all had bright colors on I thought it would be cool to pop them out even more, so I played with the brightness and hue/saturation and adjusted the colors. I erased the date that was on there and some of the background that I didn't like. I was educated on the "stamp tool" , I like the stamp tool. I like how it turned out, photoshop is coming a long very, VERY slowly.

jcom 2160 reading three

I really liked this weeks readings. I thought the comic strip was very clever and informative. The Facebook article was the same. I agree with both . I think that being able to send a text, comment, email, whatever it may be by using technology one can easily become almost disconnected and act in ways that they normally wouldn't in person. The whole Facebook thing is such a dilemma. Currently I don't have a Facebook and to be honest, I never thought to even get one. I thought it was so crazy that people would spend hours of their day checking and pretty much "stalking" others one Facebook. However now Facebook has become such a mainstream thing that even professors are requiring to use it. It doesn't stop there, work, church and other activities all use Facebook as their main stream of connection with everyone.
I can see why. As I am nearing graduation I see the benefit of being able to easily stay in contact, especially since many of those people you might see occasionally, or even never.
At the same time my strong opinions of Facebook stand. I think it is up to the individual to censor whatever they choose to spend there time doing. I think that someone can have Facebook and still keep real human interaction and remember civility. It's when people start asking each other out over this that I begin to worry! The dilemma still thrives! Facebook, or no Facebook?

jcom 2160 reading two

Scary! wow, after reading this weeks issues I was a little disturbed. I guess I am very innocent and don't realize the capabilities of the Internet and search engines. The one I disliked the most was about the husband that looked up horrible adjectives on google , after killing his wife.
Horrible! I do still think that search engines can be a very good thing. I believe it is up to the individual to be responsible for what information they do and do not believe as well as how they use these resources.

Jcom 2160- reading 1

This reading was mainly about online etiquette rules. The first reading was about e mail, talked about many companies ansewering emails late or not even replying at all. Training employees on what, and what not to write is a big deal. A company needs to implement these rules for three reasons: Professionalism: by using proper email language your company will convey a professional image. Efficiency: emails that get to the point are much more effective than poorly worded emails. Protection from liability: employee awareness of email risks will protect your company from costly law suits.
I think these are very valid points and that every company who implements them will benefit.

jcom 18, 19 and 20

I work at a t-shirt shop here on campus and I figured that I do a form of Public Relations almost every single day. Since I make t-shirts for different companies and organizations I am helping advertise for them. I love how PR can be applied in so many ways .

Good PR Bad PR has been on my mind for some time now. With this day and age and everything being electronic with internet, news pretty much lasts forever! That can be very good or very bad. I don't really know how I feel about that. I guess if you make sure that you always stay on top of your business and have an excellent PR team this would be great.
